Perfect Ghent spot to have a quick and healthy lunch break: Soepplus. Its central location near arts centre Vooruit as well as the daily fresh served food and pleasant interior give the place its character and make it an at least once must visit.

How does it work? As easy and sufficient as possible is the rule at Soepplus, for you to enjoy your precious break minutes at best. You just order what you want out of the extensive choices in the refrigerated counter, pay and take your meal to the place you want to sit. Or you carry it home, because everything is take away-possible. As easy and comfortable as it can get.

What do they serve? A healthy and every day changing menu where you can choose out of three different kinds of soup and a wide offer of homemade salads. Everything is daily fresh and made with high quality ingredients.

Don’t expect much of the usual stuff: things like tomato soup and a tomato mozzarella salad are standard to obtain, but that’s about it. The owner loves to experiment with new diches, something that translates itself to her ever-healthy menu. Also when you’re vegan or vegetarian you will find what you need for sure.

A selection of my favourites. The apple parsnip, oriental vegetable or chickpea soup are just some of the delicious examples on the menu. What concerns the salads I can give you just some of the meals that stuck with me. Grilled cauliflower with dill and capers sauce, Greek salad (with feta cheese, olives and fresh vegetables), beetroot with smoked trout and apple, pasta salad with pancetta, apple and mango or fresh crayfish: too much to name it all.

Next to the soups and salads, Soepplus serves healthy sandwiches, croques, quiches, fresh juices (from spinach-apple to ginger-carrot) and some sweets: a selection of (cheese)cakes, bread pudding, brownies or rice pudding, always depending on the day.

Tip: check the daily menu of Soepplus on their website before you go there. In this way you can make your choice in advance, what saves you from a struggle on the spot.
