7 reasons why you should visit Iceland

Sick of laying on a beach, jam packed with people, sweating as you try to cool yourself with an iced frappe? Want to try something more adventurous and refreshing than spending most of your holiday at a hotel, only leaving to drag yourself to the nearest museum? Well then, we might just have found the ideal place for you …

I spent a long weekend in this beautiful country and it was such a great experience. That is why I wanted to share these 7 reasons plus my video report with you. Hope you like it!

1. Breathtaking nature

With its very diverse and never monotonous nature, Iceland is bound to sweep you off your feet. Whether you’re looking for glaciers, waterfalls, mountains for hiking, hot springs or luscious green parks, Iceland has it all.

2. Seriously

3. Nordic cuisine

The Nordic cuisine is characterized by its pureness and versatility. Think fresh fish on sourdough, seasonal vegetables and local beers. The Icelanders are pioneers when it comes to eco-friendly agricultural practices. Let yourself be surprised by the delectable indigenous flavours.

4. Great balance between outdoorsy and relaxing

You can start your day with a brisk hike, partake in Viking horseback riding after lunch and finish your evening relaxing in the geothermal waters of the Blue Lagoon. One thing that’s sure is that holidays in Iceland won’t leave you feeling drained. The crisp, clean air and fresh water will give you an energy boost, meaning you’ll -want- do all those outdoors activities. Forget about vegetating in your hotel bed. Jump on that quad, folks.

5. Witness several of nature’s most beautiful phenomena

Ever wanted to witness the Northern Lights? What about spotting whales or walking under waterfalls? Whether you want to share these life-time experiences as a couple or with friends, you won’t be forgetting them any time soon. The countless waterfalls and play of light– who knows you might even see a triple rainbow.

6. But it’s not only nature …

Explore the giant opera of Reykjavik with its multi-colour houses or visit the black beaches in Vik. Wait, that’s nature again. The compelling architecture — at times quaint village style, other times bordering on the futuristic — adds another feat to this already amazing scenery.

7. Good deals with Icelandair

Icelandair has 5 flights a week scheduled during the entire year and you can even opt for a stop-over in Iceland (maximum 7 days) on your way to the States or Canada. This deal gets even more interesting: you can check in 2 pieces of luggage, there is Wi-Fi on board and their fares are some of the lowest for these destinations. You can book a return ticket to Iceland for €349, including 3 nights at a hotel with breakfast.
